Words, Weights, Whatever

Question

For all those who have multiple blogs or have thought of creating them:

I'm debating of splitting Words, Weights, Whatever, into three blogs: "Words" would discuss my writing efforts; "Weights" would cover my fitness goals; and "Whatever" would remain the current blog.

What's your opinion?

  • i like having separate blogs, but i also yack a lot and manage, just barely, to keep them all fairly separate. if you don't post much in any of the three areas, more than one blog may not be the best thing for you.

    i know, so helpful aren't i? ;)

  • Hmm... sounds like a lot of work to me. ;-)

I had 3 blogs for a time. One died from lack o' use, and the othe barely struggles along. I keep only one main blog (but then I only chat about writing in it).

  • I had three blogs for a while. Only two survive in any form and only one is active. Blogging is a lot of work to begin with, and when you add the load of switching back and forth ... not worth it. Besides, I like reading everything all together about you.

Thanks. Good to know what folks are reading out there

  • I had three blogs for awhile. The blog everyone knew about, extended family members, the kids, etc. and I had to be very careful about what I wrote about on that blog in case they read it. I had another one for my workout schedule, to help keep me motivated and a third one, my current anonymous blog, where I write whatever I want to write about. The family one and the workout one eventually died because the anonymous one was much more fun to write in and I kept neglecting the others.

Basically, I've decided I'll post whatever I feel like posting: my workout, my family, whatever, all on this one blog. Works well so far. :-)

  • Just agreeing w/ an earlier comment - I take voyeuristic (is that a word??) pleasure in reading all your life tidbits in one blog. ;-)

    Thanks, y'all. VERY informative.

Hmmm. Right now keeping one blog seems to be in the lead.

  • Yup, I have a top secret blog where I posted my real thoughts too. Trouble is, it's hard to say if anyone read it or what the point of it was. I like to communicate with people and it's nice if they comment or send me an email. The personal blog, well, I didn't put my email or a commenting system on it...because some of my feelings were kind of controversial.

So I am back to writing about My Little Ponies for my regular blog. :)

  • Maktaaq, (or anyone else interested), you hit upon it when you said you didn't add comments or an email address to your secret blog. There's little motivation if you think no one is reading.

What I've done is created a name (Amber Stone), created an email account for that name (ambercastaway@yahoo.com) and a blog about me with comments and all. Everything is true on my blog, but I don't use anyone's real name, or say exactly where I live, exactly where I work, etc.

That way, I can be free to say whatever I please about whatever I want to and even if someone who knows me runs across it, they won't know it's me.

    I hope. ;-)

  • Sounds like fun, Amber.. to be so free to post whatever you want. I haven't tried that yet. I am perhaps one of the biggest blogging addicts ever and I have lots of blogs... more than I list on the sidebar of my writing website (http://www.lindajomartin.com). I even started two more to put on my web design site this month. One is for reviewing web design books. The other is for blathering about webrings I own. I guess whether or not you want to own multiple blogs depends on how much you want to write, and how much you want to compartmentalize the information. But to me, this one seems fine all as one weblog and I enjoy reading it just the way it is.
