Caffeine Chaos

I'm in a foul mood right now. I feel my work doesn't appreciate me; one of my colleagues is a major A-hole for subtley attacking my credentials as an editor; and The Spouse is irritating me.

It's time to cut back on the caffeine.

A few years back, I figured--finally--that I'm hypoglycemic. Unlike a diabetic, who produces too little insulin, I produce too much. The effect is the same: low blood sugar. But whereas a diabetic has to give themselves a shot of insulin, I have to consume...more sugar.

This is not carte blanche to consume massive quantities of sweets. Since I don't feel the effect of the extra sugar until minutes later, I can consume hundreds, if not thousands, of calories as I
desperately try to bring my sugar levels back to normal.

Caffeine worsens the situation. The substance blocks adrenaline which can prolong the sensation. Even low amounts of carbs, depending on the amount of caffeine in my system, can cause what I call "the crash" as its converted into sugar.

I don't hate people (and in the case of my spouse, love certain individuals). Thus I'm here munching on a cinnamon roll while reminding myself that it's not
their fault.

This time.

  • Cut. Back. On. Caffiene? :weeps:

Just kidding - I get in an escalating cycle of coffee consumption myself. I peaked last week and am trying to get back to one cup or less per day again.

Sigh. I do love me some java though.

  • A medical condition that requires you to eat cinnamon rolls? How do I get a dose of that? :)

I couldn't hang with the lack of caffeine, though. I love the java jive, and it loves me.
