Alien Planet is most certainly a writing endeavor. I wanted to figure out what sort of atmosphere and gravity and etc they gave Darwin 3 so I could get a sense of why they thought the aliens might look the way they did. That way I could have a visual representation of a plausible alien world when I wrote one in the future. Put this in the "Words" category! Most things on the Discovery and History Channels should go right into writing research or idea generation. :)
