Weekend Words. Getting Cancelled

I run a monthly 3.x game.

For those who don't know what "3.x", that is my abbreviation for the prior edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Though there's a goodly number of gamers who view the current fourth edition version, or "4E", not "true D&D", it has the the official name and support courtesy of Wizards of the Coast and owner Hasbro. Thus, I'll treat it as such.

Anyway, I was suppose to run my game this Sunday. I admit I felt hesitant; not only had it been months since the last game, but I've been feeling burned out from gaming so much over the past few weeks.

I began to prep Friday at one of the local coffeeshops. Talk about odd people! There, one of the customers conversed loudly to his friends on-line about his psychotropic meds while I received commentary from one the staff on another stabbing a business owner nearby. The Spouse paid a short visit before heading home with our decaf espresso.

On Saturday, the "storyteller" in me began to rouse, filling in spots in the "Age of Wyrms" metaplot for my 3.x campaign. By the time evening hit, I could not shut my Muse up much to the amusement of my spouse. Oh! We spent the day eating, browsing bookstores, napping (me), visiting a local hobby store, and watching anime.

The game got cancelled.

I could understand why. The hosts' entire family was sick. Yes, it was disappointing but I bounced back quickly. Thus Sunday was spent starting with a brunch, then hitting more bookstores. I got a haircut and spending some time up at one of my FLGS. Oh, and I slept a lot. And we watched a lot of kewl anime.

I give the weekend 4 out of 5 stars.
