NEW space opera?

Writer:
New space opera?

Grrr. I've got to get this issue.

This is a hint of how (most) writers get their ideas and--for me--a little of serendipity(sp?) I've been thinking about writing sf for a while lately. Seeing the topic for the August LOCUS, my creative juices are threating to overflow as they rise up with a plethora of new concept: human immigrants to a human colony dominated by aliens; alien religion to activate the hyperdrive; ALL the aliens have psi-powers but humans don't; etc.

Grrr. Must--write--ideas--down....

Added a new link...

Personal:
Added inkygirl to my list of favorits (see left). Cool stuff on her site.

The "Title" feature on Blogger doesn't seem to be working on my published blog. Oh, well.

Which one first?

Personal:
As one can see, I did a lot of entries yesterday. They don't touch everything I felt that day (or currently feel), but cover some of the current emotional issues going through me.

I'll do a breakdown of each issue at another time. To summarize, I feel I have too many things to do and don't know where to start. It's almost laughable; I love to organize and to schedule. But deciding priority, well, that's a different matter.

About my new job....

Personal:
Just checked out the new features made available for free by Blogger. Will be interesting....

Employee:
I'm still not sure about this job. Spouse pegged me dead on: I don't like confrontation with people and my new position in client care may lead to such matches. I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow.

Writer:
The prior links (e.g., Disgusting gamer habits) provide LOTS of insight into people (yes, we're disgusting) and ideas for stories. The WOD totally surprised me. I've read the game, though, and the poster has a point.

Damn it.

Whoa....

Yesterday:

Personal:
Boy. My mood radically changes when I haven't for a while. Have to adjust that (without inflating myself.)

Watched a couple of episodes of Xena on my DVD player. Love the commentary stuff.

Spouse:
Watched more episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho(sp?) Though great, they're sad, dealing with the origins of Kurama (the black-haired one).

Entrepreneur:
Frustrating. Call again from WF CC. We're now debating if we want to continue with the card.

Writer:
Reading entries on both Evolution and Forward Motion. Interesting about the lingering effects of that "incident" months ago. Especially interesting to read is its effects on the founder (and still owner?) of the site. She feels she can't return without causing trauma.

Writer:
A couple of weeks ago I became aware of an issue over at Hollylisle.com (now Forward Motion) and Evolution. Like a pedestrian(sp?) looking at a carwreck as they drive by, I've been reading the postings on both sites. All I can think is, "Wow. Lot of stuff happened while I was gone from Hollylisle.com" and "sad. So very sad. But what does the issue have to do with writing?"

I know a little how the Evolution founders felt. Once, early in my time at Hollylisle.com, one of the moderators burned me. I believe it was unintentional; she had (and still has) a blunt manner almost to the point of being abrasive. I felt a sting of it recently while in chat though became silent when I pointed out I had not been the topic discussion (regarding an aspect of fantasy) in the past. But I reminded myself that my purpose to visit Hollylisle.com (and--now--Evolution as well) was for info on writing. Occasionally I'd post some non-writing stuff (mostly about health). I usually posted the stuff between the Main Discussion and Rant boards until (politely) asked to confine it to the latter. That's fine with me. I never forgot, though, the purpose of the site.

Well, enough on that issue.

Oh, cool. http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-main.html?2003-09/16/10.00.tv

Now, I just have to rent and watch the series....

Yesterday:

Employee:
Whew. Work was busy during the morn. Fortunately it died down in the late afternoon. Still, I put in a good number of hours. Still learning a lot.

Fitness:
Made it to the 1830 step class at Tustin. Traffic wasn't bad at all. Sub that evening: the regular's husband had been in an accidently literally minutes before the class started. Class wasn't bad except barely hear the instructor.

Spouse:
Watched more Yu Yu Hakusho(sp?) GREAT story arc. The show keeps escalating to new heights of inflicting probs on its MCs. Love it!

Writing:
There was an interesting discussion on Forward Motion on what constitutes writing. My opinion--for me--is "writing" constitutes what's done directly in the WIP. Everything else (e.g., imagination, research, etc.) is research. Both are very important to getting the WIP in its final form.

Housework:
Not doing well at all. Too sleepy in the morn. Will have to work on this goal.

Entrepreneur:
Mailed out letter. Post office's not bad after 1300.

Personal:
Well, well, well....: http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20030915_1223.html

This fiasco keeps getting curiouser and curiouser....

Goals for this week:
NOTE: A lot of the following have time start/stop and duration. I'll post those later.

Personal:
Complete at least 90% of my scheduled goals.

Spouse:
Be nice (e.g., more backrubs, less teasing, etc.) Put at least one unique snack in lunch/dinner bag. Schedule a fun weekend.

Writer:
Determine which WiP to work on. Write on scheduled days and times.

Fitness:
At least three cardio classes; hit all major muscles. change diet. Lose at least one pound.

Entrepreneur:
Process book order. Check P.O. box. Have at least three books uploaded. Shelve books.

Son:
Give call to find out what's been going on.

Sibling:
Give call or send e-mail to find out what's been going on.

Friend:
Give call or send e-mail to at least one friend to find out what's been going on.

Housework:
Perform at least 90% of scheduled cleanings.

Employee:
New schedule (0900-1800).

Employee:
Oh, dear. They just told me about the catering truck. I bought a breakfast burrito. Eeek. The last time I worked at a job with such convienance(sp?), I gained 20 pounds.

Yesterday (Sunday):

Personal and spouse:
Stayed indoors virtually all day. Continued to watch the second story arc of Yu Yu Hakusho(sp?) Wow.

Also started new book. Dickson's Outposter. So far a good read though the writing styles and the contents of the book is a bit...outdated. (Though not as bad as Monument.) Again...to me, Adams' Watership Down is a simple read.
